Speedy Cats

5/31/26

Cats are known to be very fast in the animal kingdom. The average house cat can sprint up to 30mph which can beat the fastest of humans. The cats can only maintain that pace for a short amount of time, but it is still a very fast pace. The fastest land animal in the world belongs to the cat family, the cheetah. Cheetahs can reach speeds of up to 70mph and can accelerate from 0-60 in 3 seconds. Like house cats, cheetahs can only maintian this fast pace for a short amount of time: 20-30 seconds. What makes cheetahs so fast is their flexible spine, lightweight body, small head, and long legs.
